With some colleagues he founded the company Reduce. Re-use. Grow (RRG) where they have developed an alternative paper cup that could be the definitive solution to this great problem where millions of paper cups end up in seas and garbage dumps.
The cup of coffee that Alex’s team has created is made up of a component similar to plastic, but of plant origin (biodegradable) that after its manufacturing process, native seeds from different regions are embedded depending on where the cups are distributed. These cups are fully functional and the seeds are not affected by liquid or heat thanks to the protection of the biodegradable material.
Planting guidelines are printed on the bottom of the cups, instructing consumers to open the cup, immerse it in water for approximately five minutes, cover it in soil, and then watch the plant or tree develop.
