Our EcoGenius today is David Lucena
David Lucena is a 13-year-old boy who lives in the rural community Campo Centro, land of farmers located in the mountains of the Andrés Eloy Blanco municipality in Lara State, Venezuela.
David’s family are farmers, so from a very young age he was interested in going to work with his father and older brother.
At the age of 10 he began to go daily to take care of the garden because he assures that his passion is natural sciences and that he would like to be a plant scientist.
Medicinal and aromatic plants have always attracted David’s attention, and he even learned little by little the usefulness of each one with the help of his father. Based on this interest, one day he gathered several plants to make a purine (pest controller), and after macerating the leaves they realized that it kept pests away from the garden.
David now teaches his neighbors and colleagues in his family project to prepare homemade bio-controllers, which act against microorganisms that attack crops. These bio-controllers do not harm human health or the environment.
Undoubtedly, David is exploring the #EcoGenius inside him, and we are sure that in the future he will be one of the best scientists dedicated to plants.
Now that we know David’s story, what inspires you to awaken your #EcoGenius?
