Our EcoGenius today is Olivia Mandle
Olivia is a young 14-year-old activist, fighter for the rights of marine animals and the welfare of the planet.
At the age of 13, Olivia set out to free the last three remaining dolphins in the Barcelona Zoo in Spain in a sanctuary, for which she collected 57,000 signatures through her initiative and platform «Change.org». However, the desired outcome was not achieved, as the dolphins were transferred to the Attica Zoological Park in Athens.
In spite of this, Mandle has not left her goals behind, and continues to fight in favor of marine animals. She even met with Sergio Antonio García, General Director of Animal Rights of the Spanish government, to request the prohibition of dolphinariums in Spain.
In addition to this initiative, Olivia, in search of protecting and cleaning the sea, also created the Jelly Cleaner, a tool that allows cleaning microplastics from the surface of the sea, «If we do not have a clean and healthy Mediterranean, it will be impossible for animals to survive. It will be impossible for us humans not to become extinct».
Will you join Olivia’s fight? Tell us what actions you will take from your community to make a great contribution to our seas and the animals that live in them.
